May Ling Sung

Legal & Finance Assistant

Growing up in my parents own restaurant I was eager to learn more about business in general at a young age.
From the basic microeconomics - such as demand vs supply - to employment and environmental factors that stimulate business - such as technology and innovation.

After high school I was soon convinced that studying Applied Economics was the right thing to do. With my Master’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Antwerp I was all set to start my first job as an Auditor where I learned a lot about in- and outside operations of different enterprises. It was a great experience to learn firsthand about their business cycles, risks and responsibilities, internal controls and so much more. After years of performing financial controls over companies it was time for a change.

Today my focus is on Contracts & Finance and I love how my job consists of different types of work and how they are all connected. I'm the accountable for maintaining all standard company contracts (from SLA to quotes), in close cooperation with our Co-Ceo’s and our company lawyer - the legal part of my job. Consequently I'm also involved in negotiating agreements with our customers, business partners and other third parties. Even though parties often tend to have different opinions during negotiation, in the long haul the reward is major when you see the signature on the dotted line at the end.
On the financial side of the job, I'm the Head Purchaser for the company and I help amongst other things to set up the yearly financial budget as well.
Last but not least, being the Fleet manager of the company cars also has it perks as I get the chance to test-drive all the cars in advance.

Off the clock, I love to relax and spend time with family and friends. I like to be creative and as well love to cook, travel and sport. I have a passion for the Chinese culture and gastronomy and as a true “Asian” I always have my camera with me. Also, humor is very important for me as a day without laughter is like a day without sunshine.

Joining the Inventive Designers team is a decision I will not regret. 2007 was the year I first got in touch with the company and where I got the opportunity to work as an Administrative Assistant during a summer job. Ever since I always knew that Inventive Designers was the kind of company I wanted to work for. When the opportunity arose I did not hesitate at all. After all… home is where the heart is.
